Book Town In Scotland

This is what book lovers who are also travellers dream of.

I have always wanted to own a bookstore downstairs while I live in a cosy apartment upstairs. Look what I found on Airbnb

The Open Book is a charming bookshop with an apartment above in the heart of #Wigtown, Scotland’s National Book Town. Here you can live your dream of having your very own bookshop and at the same time enjoy your holiday.

Set up by The Wigtown Festival Company, a non-profit, The Open Book aims is to celebrate books, independent bookshops and welcome people around the world to Scotland’s National Book Town.
For a fee of 57$ you get to stay in the apartment above and work at the book shop below, which entails opening and closing the store every day, welcoming visitors, stocking books, and creating window displays to get more buyers inside!

The guests are provided with a laptop and WiFi and also bicycles for exploring the countryside. National Book Town has 10 bookshops and about 1,000 people living by the sea. Situated in Galloway, the town is the setting for many literary classics, like The 39 Steps. Sea, ancient woodlands, crumbling castles, a whisky distillery, 7 Stains Cycle Trails, nature preserves, farms, the Southern Upland Way, Scotland’s Art Town, Food Town and the home of Burns are all here.

The flat can accommodate two. Smoking is not allowed inside the apartment or the book shop. Guests are expected to blog about their experiences and contribute to the literary community. They are also allowed to host readings, events and any activity biblio-related.
Phew! What a dream!
